Reading Workshops

At Abbeymead we recognise the importance of working in partnership with families to help develop pupils reading skills and a love for reading.

Over the course of an academic year we host a variety of reading workshops that are aimed at supporting you to increase your own knowledge and better support your child. The events are open to parents of all year groups

During the workshops, our experienced reading specialists will provide information on how to help your child improve their reading skills at home, including how to select age-appropriate books, strategies for reading aloud, and ways to make reading more enjoyable for children. This workshops are is free of charge and we warmly welcome all families.

After the workshop you have the opportunity to bond with your child over books during an in class reading for pleasure session, where you will have a chance to read and enjoy an age-appropriate book with your child.

This event is designed to be a relaxing and fun experience for both children and adults, while also promoting the importance of literacy development. We believe that encouraging a love of reading in children is crucial for their academic success and broader life skills. By setting aside some time to read together, you can help to foster a lifelong love of reading in your child.
