‘Ready for Life’
‘Abbeymead is a school for everyone. It is ambitious for every child to experience success.’
The observation above was made by an Ofsted inspector visiting Abbeymead and, in our view, it encapsulates everything that we are trying to achieve at the school.
Ensuring that each and every child achieves their potential begins with the building of relationships. When these are positive and respectful, children will feel happy, safe and ready to learn. The relationships between adults and pupils, and between the pupils themselves at Abbeymead, are outstanding and provide the foundation from which all of our children are able to thrive.
We are justifiably proud of the curriculum at our school, and teachers spend time carefully adapting it to fit the needs of all of our pupils. Our priority is to ensure that each child reaches their potential in term of reading, writing and maths. However, we also place huge importance on the quality of teaching and learning across the rest of the curriculum. It may be that your son or daughter excels in science, music or art. Or perhaps they will develop a love for one of the humanities – history, geography or religious education. Wherever their preferences lie, we aim to ensure that our children are fully engaged in what they are learning, because they find it both interesting and challenging.
The best schools develop the whole-child, and at Abbeymead, we provide an extensive programme for personal development. Our ‘Ready for Life’ award scheme is designed to encourage our children to explore and reflect upon the world in which they live. Whilst, we also provide opportunities for our pupils to develop leadership skills through the organisation of clubs and activities.
We want all of our children to become happy and successful in later life, and it is at primary school that the journey starts. Please do contact us to learn more about how we can work together to ensure that your son or daughter is ‘Ready for Life’.
