We have just recruited our new Reading Ambassador children for the upcoming academic year (2023-24). These children will be helping us to continue to promote the importance of reading across our school. We had our first meeting of the academic year on 20th October 2023 and the children were presented with their prestigious Reading Ambassador badges.

Below, you can find a log of our meeting minutes and monthly newsletters. Have a read of our first Reading Ambassador newsletter with the children's recommendations of great books to read!

Since 2020 our wonderful Reading Ambassadors have been working to help develop the ethos and culture of reading within our school. These children are selected by their class teachers for their enthusiasm, passion and love for reading.

What are some of the things have been involved with?

  •  Helping to select high quality texts for our ever growing libraries
  • Stamping and delivering new texts to their home
  • Checking the stock in the Book Nook is kept fresh and well organised
  • Supporting activities that keep the profile of reading high
  • Producing content for the school reading newsletter and reading corners
  •  Each year during our 'Big Reading week' they act as judges for the various competitions. Including the 2022 decorate a potatoe and the 2023 decorate a toilet roll competition.

  • They did a fantastic job of helping to develop our local libraries and judged our local libraries makeover competition. A huge congratulations to Year 6 who were the winners.
